Week 8
Date: 11/1/18 Time: 4:30-6:30pm
Week #: 8
Quick Summary:
- We made a carabiner-like hook on top of the lift.
- We made a spot for the team marker to be held until it is flicked into the depot.
- We replaced the big gears on the vacuum with 3-D printed ones.
- Our minerals are sometimes getting stuck under our wheels.
- Our back wheels are slipping.
What We Accomplished: We replaced the axle on the top of the lift with something like a carabiner. When we are unlatching from the lander at the beginning of the match, our lift goes up and the horizontal piece goes down. When we are latching on at the end of the match, we go up until the horizontal piece is in-between the latch on the lander. Then we pull ourselves up. Our previous team marker did not fit the requirement because it was too small, so Luke 3-D printed a new one and we made a spot for it to be stored on the robot until it ends up in the base. It is basically a holder, and a servo motor has a little arm that flicks the team marker out of the holder and into our square on the playing field. We replaced the big gears with 3-D printed ones that Luke made. They have fixed our problems! Because of the sizes that he made them, we governed how far apart they are from each other. We also made it so that the new rubber bands we got fit right into the grooves and do not slip out.
Our Problems: Our carabiner latch is sliding on the lander latch and that is a problem because it determines how far off the ground we are. Minerals keep getting stuck under our wheels. Our back wheels keep slipping and it makes it hard to drive.
